BEGININGS:
The Faierikin Tribe appeared a little
after the Goddesses had created Hyrule and all of it’s races.
Though the Faierikin’s were highly skilled in the art of magic, the
Hylians were still the favored of the Goddesses. However, the two
races were close allies from the start. Though the Hylian’s
life-spans were short, the Faierikins lived a lot longer, with some even
reached as old as several centuries.
APPEARANCE:
Like their close Hylian allies, the Faierikin people also feature slender, tapered ears, and a fair skin complexion. Their average height never reaches taller than 6', with that being a rare sight. Most range from 5' 0" to 5' 9". They sport slender body frames, and most tend to have blue eyes, with the occasional few having green. When it comes to hair color, there is no dominant color, but most range from brown, blond, red, and black. The most dominant feature of the race, however, are the large, translucent wings that protrude from their shoulders. The wings are a seemingly-vestigial to one who is unfamiliar to the race, but they are a very important part of the Faierikin afterlife.
HOME:
The Faierikins did not live in Hyrule,
but resided in a mysterious valley a few miles on the other side of
Death Mountain, known only as the Crystal Valley. This valley was
the source of the Faierikin’s magic abilities, for rivers of pure,
untapped magic flowed through the valley. The most unique aspect,
however, were the thousands of varied magic crystals that grew all
over the valley’s hills and planes. There were many who sought the
great magic of the Faierikins, and thus the Tribe became a race of
strong warriors, along with their gift in magic.
FAMILY:
Lord Danison and Lady Relania, Serenity’s birth parents, were very close with the Royal Family of Hyrule, and thus made frequent trips from the Crystal Valley to the kingdom. Through this tie, the Faierikins and the Hylians were allied together. This was a great alliance for the land of Hyrule, because the Faierikins shared their knowledge of magic and battle with the Royal Family, giving them an edge in battle.
However, this alliance proved a problem with the Gerudos, who were constantly at war with the Hylians. Through spies, the Gerudos learned of the Faierikin’s abilities, and plotted to exploit them. One such Gerudo, however, had another reason for wanting rid of the Faierikins. His name was Ganondorf Dragmire. Through the studies he did of the legend of the Triforce, he learned that in order to claim the relic for his own, he would have to be rid of three heroes: the Princess of Destiny, the Hero of Time, and the Princess of the Faierikins. After several years of planning and mind control, Ganondorf knew the time for his reign was approaching. He gained the favor of Hyrule’s King, all the while planning to invade the great land of Hyrule and seize the throne. One thing stood in his way though, and that was the Faierikin Tribe.
Knowing the Faierikins weren’t as easily manipulated as the Hylians, the Gerudos had no choice but to invade them… and destroy them. One cold and rainy night, the Gerudos invaded the Crystal Valley, taking the Faierikins by complete surprise. They, with the help of a small band of visiting Hylian soldiers, tried their best to organize and defend their land, but the Gerudos were fierce. They burned the homes of the Faierikins, and slaughtered every man, woman, and child they could find. As Ganondorf was heading toward the castle, where Lord Danison and Lady Relania were trying to escape, he was confronted by one brave Hylian soldier, who made a last-ditch attempt to protect the Faierikins. Gandondorf didn’t even think twice about killing him. This man was Link’s father.
As they watched the battle rage on outside, the Lord and Lady knew there was only one way to protect their young daughter, Serenity. They had to send her to another world, after wiping her memory clean of anything having to do with the Faierikins. They used their magic to open a portal large enough to place Serenity in, and bid her farewell. As the portal was closing, Ganondorf and a couple of Gerudo soldiers burst in through the doors and killed Lord Danison immediately. Lady Relania screamed, and the last thing that baby Serenity saw was her mother being grabbed by the Gerudo lord, right before he slayed her.
All of the Faierikins, and the Hylian soldiers who happened to be in the valley, were killed. Serenity was the only survivor. However, the story doesn’t end there. As the Gerudos were getting ready to harness the energy of the Crystal Valley, it put up a last defense of its own. The valley spit Ganondorf and his army out, and formed a labyrinth outside of it for protection; the Valley of the Lost Souls. This valley was formed for anyone who tried to enter the Crystal Valley with unpure intentions. They would be forever lost in this labyrinth until death, where their sould would wander for all eternity.
This infuriated Ganondorf, but he didn’t have time to worry about it; he had to invade Hyrule Castle. He knew that since the Faierikin were dead, all he needed was to destroy the young Princess Zelda, and find the one who would be the Hero of Time. However, you all know that part of the story, so I digress. It wouldn’t be until several years after the Princess of Destiny and the Hero of Time locked Ganondorf in the Sacred Realm that the Legend of the Faierikin would come to life.
SERENITY:
Serenity was sent to a world of Humans, and as such was given a disguise resembling a human, and was adopted by a nice man and wife named Jim and Ellie Fairchild. Her memory was wiped clean, and all her “parents” told her was that her birth parents died in a horrible car accident. They had no idea where the mysterious young girl came from; they found her disoriented in their backyard. However, Serenity seemed to buy it, and continued to live her years with the two. As she aged, she didn’t give her birth parents a second thought. That is, until she turned 18… and the dreams began. The three Goddesses of Hyrule came to her in dreams telling her bits and pieces of her past. Finally, one particular day, Serenity stumbled back into the land that is Hyrule, and “Staff of Power” was born.
As time went on, she discovered bits and pieces of her family’s history, and what her role as the last Faierikin meant to her and everyone around her.
